Producer, Mentor and Friend

In Memoriam

Olin Terry (O.T.) a talented corporate meeting producer, mentor to many, and friend to all, recently passed away in his hotel room while on a show in Montreal. Olin will be deeply missed, but his impact and memory will continue for years to come. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Born an only child in Mineral Wells, Texas in 1929, Olin’s father worked for the Railroad while his mother was a gifted seamstress. Olin, on scholarship to SMU, received his Degree in Theology. While at SMU he, along with Aaron Spelling and others, founded KSMU, the campus radio station. Olin worked as program manager for radio stations in Detroit and Amarillo before taking a pay cut to switch to television and a job at Channel 11 in Dallas. He covered the Dallas Cowboys as well as the Kennedy Assassination. His ad agency work placed him in the company of numerous Hollywood stars including John Wayne and Paul Newman. Olin became THE producer and multi-image programmer for one of the country’s leading corporate production houses, The Creative Communications Group, during the 70’s and early 80’s. After CCG closed its doors, Olin joined Corporate Magic where he has served as producer for nearly twenty years.

Olin worked as video producer, stage manager, slide programmer, technical director, and audio editor, to name but a few. Many consider him a legend, but to one and all, he was a gentleman who was passionate about his work and about his love for his friends.

Last December Olin was the only non-staff inductee named into Alford Media’s inaugural “Wall of Honor.” His work ethic, his loyalty, and his character have inspired many and his influence runs deep in the corporate meeting industry. We’ve often joked that Olin’s forgotten more than most of us will ever know about producing successful corporate events. One thing is for sure, those of us that were privileged to know O.T. will never forget him.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 18th at 4:00PM at the Studios of Las Colinas - Studio B (Building 1) in Irving, TX. All are invited.

In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund is being established for Olin’s wife, Sue. Please make check(s) payable to the Olin Terry Memorial Fund and send to Corporate Magic, 6221 N. O'Connor Blvd, Suite 106, Irving, TX 75039.
