HOUSTON, TX - Brian L. Joseph, age 33, former Ishpeming resident passed away on Monday July 11, 2005 at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX following a courageous year-long battle with cancer.
Brian was born November 3, 1971 in Ishpeming to Lawrence & Violet (Niemi) Joseph. Brian graduated from Westwood High School, class of 1990 and attended Michigan State University. He enlisted in the Unites States Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC in the 82nd Airborne where he received many decorations including Expert Marksmanship Badge with Rifle Bar. He was honorably discharged as an E5 in September 2000. He later moved to Texas where he worked as an audio engineer for Alford Media Company.
Some of Brian's passions included traveling, reading, history, music and sports. He especially loved flying and attained a private pilot license for single engine aircraft.
Brian is survived by his parents Larry & Violet Joseph of Ishpeming his brother David Joseph of Los Angles, CA, Karen Rehn of The Colony, TX, his paternal grandmother Clara Joseph, aunts & uncles: Anne (Richar) Burke, Nicholas (Judy) Joseph, Rosemary (Joseph) Kozup, Patricia (James) Maki, Susan (Paul) Belpedio, Julie (Richard) Anderson, Margaret (Michael) Beauchamp, Carol (Ted) Valeski, Jean (Ken) Lawson, Marlene (Duane) King, and Sherry (John) Lusardi, along with numerous cousins. Brian was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Nick Joseph, maternal grandparents Ernest & Tellerva Niemi and an aunt Mae Kassmann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00a.m. Friday, July 15, 2005 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. John Shiverski officiating. Burial will be in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-7:00p.m. at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming and again on Friday from 10:00a.m. until the time of service at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Pallbearers will be Ernest Valeski, Scott Manley, Mike Flynn, Dan Dalpra, Jeff "Reggie" Hendra, Todd Blight, Cory Blight and Chris Kashi.
